The challenge
Brightpath launched on time but not on margin: bill-of-materials cost had crept 9 percent above plan, and channel inventory reached fourteen weeks of cover the moment reviews landed late.
What we did
Oliver Grant's team re-engineered the bill of materials around two component platforms shared across the family, renegotiated with the EMS partner on build-ready volumes, and set a launch calendar where review timing is an input, not an accident.
Channel inventory became a weekly number with a named owner; the second family standardized on the same platforms before tooling started.
The outcome
Bill-of-materials cost fell 9 percent on the flagship family. Channel inventory fell from fourteen to eight weeks of cover, and the next launch shipped a quarter earlier at a higher opening margin.
Bill of materials cost −9 % vs plan
Channel inventory −6 weeks of cover
Shared platforms across family +96 components
