Line-side logistics, measured in seconds per unit
A picker's route is a product design problem. At one assembly plant, re-sequencing presentation racks cut seven seconds per unit — which at takt time is the difference between two shifts and three.
We now measure line-side logistics the way production measures stations. The rack layout has a takt, and it shows up in the same daily number.
